Program Goals: Inspiring Underrepresented Students to Pursue Medical Careers and Improve Healthcare
Description: On Thursday, July 30, 2020, from 6:00 – 7:30 pm, UNC Health Sciences at MAHEC will host the Annual Minority Medical Mentoring Program HOPE Banquet on MAHEC’s Biltmore Campus at 121 Hendersonville Road.

Since 2005, MMMP has provided medical, pharmacy, and dental internships for 71 underrepresented students who are interested in advanced-level health professions. The program is open to high school students participating in an internship for course credit through Asheville City or Buncombe County schools.

MMMP was developed to increase the number of underrepresented minorities training and practicing healthcare, enhance the quality of care by increasing workforce diversity, and achieve greater health parity for populations of color in our region. It is administered through the Health Careers and Diversity Education Department at UNC Health Sciences at MAHEC in partnership with the Asheville Buncombe Institute of Parity Achievement, Western Carolina Medical Society, and Mission Health.
